Alkylbenzene Sulfonate (LAS) solved the problem of pollution in 1950s because
it has much better biodegradation ratio than Branched Alkylbenzene Sulfonate,
it its application domains were developed extensively.
Sodium Linear
Alkylbenzene Sulfonate (LAS) is a widely used anionic surfactant, white or
light yellow powder, soluble in water easily. LAS has superior function of
detergency, wetting, foaming, emulsifying, dispersing etc. Biodegradation ratio
is above 90%.
Sodium Linear
Alkylbenzene Sulfonate (LAS) can be used as direct compound of daily or
industrial detergents, such as laundry powder, concentrated detergent powder,
solid detergents, paste detergents, slurry detergent.
In textile
industry, Sodium Linear Alkylbenzene Sulfonate (LAS) can be used as detergent,
dyeing auxiliary agent, degreasing agent in electroplate industry, deinking
agent in paper making industry, additive in fertilizer, and detergent, emulsifying
agent, dispersing agent in many other industries. In construction industry LAS
is used as cement additives, in petroleum industry LAS is used as drilling
chemical.
Sodium Linear
Alkylbenzene Sulfonate (LAS) has excellent emulsifying and dispersing
performance, can be widely used for producing latex foaming gloves.
Producing process:
Sulfonic acid be neutralized by liquid alkaline, drying, cooling and packing
up.

Liquid Sodium
Linear Alkylbenzene Sulfonate (LAS) is ivory-white fluid liquid at room
temperature, it becomes transparent liquid after heating. It has good
performance of foaming, emulsifying, dispersing, detergency, working as
comprehensive good performance surfactant. It has good biodegradation ratio. If
store long time, it will become inhomogeneous and form different layers.
However, its chemical properties doesn’t change after stirring and come back to
conformity.
Sodium Linear
Alkylbenzene Sulfonate (LAS) shows outstanding detergency effect on particulate
dirt, protein dirt, oily dirt, especially the particulate dirt on natural
fibre, its detergency performance increases as the increase on temperature, it
works better than non-ionic surfactant on protein dirt, and create copious
foams.
However, LAS has
two impurities.
One, it has low
resistance of hard water. The detergency result decrease in hard water. So it
must be used together with some suitable chelating agent, such as Sodium
Tripolyphosphate (STPP).
Two, it has strong
degreasing power, irritative to skin during application, and the clothes do not
have good hand feeling after washing. So LAS should be used together with some
softener.
People always use
AEO (fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether) as synergism surfactant of LAS.
